Metallica’s “The Black Album” turns 30. This milestone anniversary is celebrated by James Hetfield and Co. with two releases.

With 28 million units sold, it is still the most successful metal album of all time: Metallica’s fifth studio album of the same name – better known as “The Black Album” due to the black cover. James Hetfield (57) and Co. are celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking album with two releases.

On the one hand, the tonally optimized remaster edition of the original will be released on September 10, 2021. On the other hand, a very special album will follow on October 1st, 2021 with “The Metallica Blacklist”. 53 artists of all stripes have covered their favorite tracks on the black album and present their very own interpretations.

With Miley Cyrus and Elton John

Including pop singers Miley Cyrus (28) and Sir Elton John (74). Together they recorded a new version of the world hit “Nothing Else Matters”. Cyrus revealed that at the end of March in conversation with the radio station Capital FM. Elton John accompanies them on the piano.

The income from all album sales, downloads and streams of “The Metallica Blacklist” will be shared equally to a charitable institution chosen by the participating artists and to Metallica’s own foundation “All Within My Hands”.
