Meta’s Ray-Ban Stories adopt French voice commands

More than a year after its European release, Meta’s first pair of connected glasses continues to update from time to time, failing to offer a second version of the product. Thus, the latest update brings expected features – especially with regard to voice control.

French, finally!

Full compatibility with Molière’s language was arguably one of the things most missing when Stories was released, but Meta has now fixed its error. With its update, the American firm announces that voice commands for calls and messages on Messenger, WhatsApp or via your default messaging / phone application would now support French (as well as Italian). From now on, it will be possible to ask your glasses to call someone or to dictate a message without going through the language of Shakespeare. A more than welcome integration, but which all the same arrives a little late.

Still with your voice, the Hey Facebook assistant can be triggered more naturally than before. A command like “Hey Facebook, send a message to…“will be able to become:”Hey Facebook, send a message to Marc on Messenger: your message“. Dictation therefore becomes simpler, since sending a message will now require only one command instead of the two or three previously required. Even simpler, you can directly ask your glasses to send what you want to tell someone, without having to go through the command”Send a message to“.

Farewell Facebook…

Well, not really. Until now, it was necessary to have an account on Mark Zuckerberg’s social network to be able to take full advantage of the features of Ray-Ban Stories, a constraint that may have discouraged many when purchasing the product. . A problem that the Oculus Quest 2 headset could also have encountered when it was released. But everything is fixed now, since the company announces that you will be able to connect using a Meta account – as is already the case with the virtual reality headset.

This account is in no way linked to Facebook and, the American firm assures us, allows more control over your private life and the information shared. Creating a Meta account is done using an email address, but also using your Facebook or Instagram account.
