Because future generations of processors are already being prepared in the design offices of AMD and Intel.

If Intel’s marketing teams are beginning to prepare the ground for the release of the 13th generation of processors, the American’s engineers are hard at work on the 14th, 15th and even 16th generations!

Redwood Cove and Crestmont are in a boat…

Not expected before 2025, the 16th generation is already called Lunar Lake. Before that, we should be able to have Arrow Lake at the end of 2024 and, above all, Meteor Lake within a year.

This “meteor” will therefore be the 14th generation of processors and if Intel makes no secret of its desire to use the Intel 4 engraving process, it is more discreet about the architectures implemented.

Logically, several rumors have confirmed the extension of the big.LITTLE dual architecture system and, as early as November 2020, Moore’s Law is Dead had mentioned the use of the Redwood Cove architecture for so-called high-performance cores.

Today leaks related to logs Microsoft Performance confirm this rumor. It is actually very easy to spot the mentions of Redwood Cove (on high-performance cores) and Crestmont (on efficient cores).

Meteor Lake should therefore review the CPU part in depth, but Intel intends to go even further and also review the GPU part: thus, it has been specified that Meteor Lake will introduce a new Xe-LPG graphics architecture with more cores of execution for more power.
