Métropole de Lyon The police on the bridge for the night of New Year’s Eve

As every year, the night of New Year’s Eve is not easy for the police and firefighters. This December 31, 2021, hundreds of police, gendarmes and firefighters are more than ever mobilized in the department even if, unlike last year, the inhabitants are not subject to a curfew.

The helicopter will be out

The prefecture nevertheless gave directives for this last night of the year in order to avoid disturbances to public order. Three areas have been identified: road safety (with blood alcohol and speed controls, etc.), prevention of urban violence (a helicopter will fly over the city) and compliance with health regulations (control of wearing a mask and health pass), the holiday season representing a major risk of worsening the health situation.

What is prohibited

As a reminder, all establishments open to the public (bars and restaurants) must close at 1 a.m. We will not dance there because of the risk of contagion.

From this Friday 5 p.m. and until Sunday noon, revelers will be fined if they are caught consuming alcohol on public roads and in public spaces. Traders cannot sell take-out alcohol until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Other prohibitions: sell, use or even hold fireworks and other firecrackers (category F2, F3 and T1) on the one hand and on the other hand, sell, hold or transport fuel in portable containers.
