The inauguration turned into a fiasco: twenty people were injured on Tuesday in the collapse of a suspension bridge in Cuernavaca, in central Mexico.
At least 25 injured including two seriously affected
Among the injured are Mayor José Luis Urióstegui, his wife Luz María Zagal, other notables and residents who were taking part in the bridge reopening ceremony.
Footage of the crash was shared on social media as a video was being shot as guests were on deck. We then see them fall two meters lower into the bed of a stream when the floor gave way.
“There are at least 25 injured,” local official Samuel Sotelo told Milenio TV. “Two were hospitalized with serious injuries,” he said.
