MG will market in France, at a very competitive base price of €16,990, the ZS in a thermal version equipped with a 1.5L VTI-Tech. The Dacia Duster better watch out!

A little thunderclap in the automotive world: MG, a former British manufacturer now under the aegis of the Chinese giant SAIC, has just announced the imminent arrival of a very serious rival to the famous Dacia Duster. On the strength of its development in France and relying on encouraging results (3,181 MGs delivered since the start of the year, i.e. an increase of 135% compared to 2021), the manufacturer is attempting an aggressive breakthrough by coming to offer a totally thermal offer. of his best-selling ZS.

Until now, the ZS was available in France only in the PHEV version, and especially in the EV version. The latter has also been well received in our regions, since this electric SUV has already been in the Top 10 of electric vehicle registrations since the beginning of the year. The test of the new ZS EV II 70 kWh version also convinced us of the efforts made by the manufacturer, which places its SUV among the most interesting offers of the moment in terms of value for money.

MG’s desires do not stop there. The manufacturer has undoubtedly understood that the major concern of households remains purchasing power and that for the moment, the breakthrough of electric cars, if it is obvious (10% of the registration market) is not enough to meet all the needs.

The manufacturer has therefore decided to launch the MG ZS in two fully thermal versions on French territory: the MG ZS 1.5L VTI-Tech and MG ZS 1.0L T-GDI.

This decision corresponds to a request from our customers, whose use profile does not correspond to electric mobility and wishes to benefit from the comfort, technologies and seven-year guarantee offered by MG. This international best-seller will allow us to respond quickly to the wishes of the French, in the most dynamic of segments: that of city SUVs. Our final objective remains the same: to offer all French motorists the most judicious choice on the market.“, says Haojie Guo, vice president of MG Motor France

The MG ZS range will start at €16,990 in the Comfort finish with the 1.5 VTI-Tech 106 hp BVM petrol engine (141 Nm at 4,500 rpm) and relatively complete basic equipment including LED headlights, air conditioning, radars rear parking space, electric and heated exterior mirrors, cruise control, 17” rims, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

For 2000 € more, the Luxury finish adds, among other things, the 360° camera, the heated and electrically adjustable front seats on the driver’s side, a 6 HP 3D sound system, the 7-inch digital speedometer, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert back and leatherette upholstery.

Finally, a Luxury version equipped with the 1.0L T-GDI 111 hp petrol engine, more torquey (160 Nm from 1,800 to 4,700 rpm), is available at €20,490. It adds to the Luxury 1.5L trim the panoramic sunroof, keyless access and start and a six-speed gearbox. According to the manufacturer, the engines and transmissions are of General Motors origin, and have received developments from the R&D of SAIC Group, parent company of MG. In addition, the cabin is inspired by the design of the ZS EV II, while the touch screen, which goes from 8 to 10 inches, uses the hardware of the EHS. Admittedly, we expected an evolution at this level, but for the moment, the announcement of this ZS, placed at this entry-level price, is already good news in itself.

Appointment is already made to test it as soon as possible!
