At the moment, Smash is the esport discipline that has the wind in its sails. Driven by the successes of Gluttony, the Solary player, France manages to shine internationally. The latter is one of the best players in the world, as evidenced by his title in Pound 2022 where he ate the Americans at home, one after the other. Long considered a niche game, Smash is coming out of the shadows and the very communicative passion of its community is reaching more and more people!
But beware, Gluttony is not alone. Behind him, the French scene is very rich and young talents are pushing to find a place in the spotlight. Raflow (BMS), Orion (Team Oplon), Flow (LOSC Esport) or even WineS (Izi Dream) are players to follow and even if internationally, they are a little less exposed, in French tournaments they fight to win and manage to compete with the official standard bearer. DOSE2SEL, WANTED, Dōjo… The rhythm of the tournaments is crazy and our French farm experience and trophies. But a question arises and imposes itself: who is the best structure in France? Solary seems to leave with a small head start, but in the end, only the truth on the ground counts. To see more clearly, MGG decided to organize a 100% French tournament, structure against structure, the SmashClub. On the program of the fight and the beautiful game!
The format of the tournament
The 8 best structures de France were selected and placed in a direct elimination bracket with a classic format: quarters, semis and grand final. Each structure will come with 3 representatives. The teams have no room for error and will not have time to warm up: each defeat will be fatal. The matches are played in Bo3 but with very distinct tests:
- Squad-Strike (B03): Both structures select their player for this 1v1. This one is played with 3 stocks (lives) on 3 different characters chosen by the players.
- 2v2 classic (B03): Both structures select two players for this round as a team. Attention, the player who participated in the Squad Strike will not be able to participate in the classic 2v2. The friendly-fire is activated and each competitor will have 3 stocks.
- Crew Battle (B05): this somewhat special round involves the integrity of the players. These compete in succession in 1vs1, all with 3 stocks. But as long as a player still has a life, he stays on the field and chains the opponents. He can therefore potentially single-handedly eliminate the entire enemy team.
Structures that cannot muster 3 players under contract are allowed to take one or two pickup.
The Smash Club Schedule
The competition is broadcast on the MGG Twitch channel and is spread over 7 weeks:
- Week 1 (04/25), Week 2 (05/02), Week 3 (05/09) and Week 4 (05/16): quarter-finals
- Week 5 (05/23) and Week 6 (05/27): semi-finals
- Week 7 (03/06): grand finale
The tournament features 1,500 euro cash prize which will be divided between the finalists: 1,000 euros for the winners and 500 euros for the vice-champions.

They do not participate as players, but the RZA/TPK/Fauster trio will be there to animate and comment on the competition.
