Filmmaker Michael Apted has died at the age of 79. He was best known as the director of "James Bond – The World Is Not Enough".

Michael Apted died at the age of 79. This was confirmed by his management "The Hollywood Reporter". The British filmmaker was known, among other things, as the director of the "James Bond" films "The World Is Not Enough" (1999) and "Gorillas in the Fog" (1988).

Apted was also successful as a documentary filmmaker. He was particularly celebrated for the "Up" series, in which he followed the lives of 14 people over several decades. The director's international breakthrough came in 1980 with the film "Nashville Lady", for which Sissy Spacek (71) received the Oscar for best actress.
