Creed 3 hit theaters on March 1 with Michael B. Jordan in front and behind the camera. Does the actor want to come back in a sequel? The latter gave an element of answer!
After having tasted directing with Creed 3, does Michael B. Jordan want to go further by developing one or more sequels?
During the Hollywood premiere of the feature film at the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, the actor and filmmaker discussed the subject with caution.
Asked by Deadline on the red carpet, Michael B. Jordan first wanted to salute the work provided by the entire film crew.
“The adventure I’ve been on for the past three years has been incredible. I never thought I could do what you say I’ve done. I could never have done this without the people I just came from. name in this fabulous cast. It’s a team effort”he hammered.
Deadline then raised the possibility of a sequel to Creed 3 and Michael B. Jordan was relatively evasive. However, his words leave little room for doubt, the actor’s boxing gloves still itch!
“Building the Creed universe is something that excites me a lot”he launched, not hesitating to place the term “CreedUniverse”suggesting that things are surely brewing if the film is a success.
“Every day, I came to the set wanting to impress them all. I wanted to show them that this was not just a job for me. And feeling the confidence of the whole Creed family was really, really important to us. I thank the whole team for the support provided every day, even in difficulty”did he declare.
Michael B. Jordan is therefore not ready to hang up Adonis Creed’s gloves! Will he again cross paths with Viktor Drago, his opponent in Creed 2? We already know that a series around the Drago family is in negotiations and that another on the youth of Rocky could also see the light of day.
Unfortunately, all these projects would be done without Sylvester Stallone, excluded from the history of Creed 3 and discussions around possible spin-offs. Very virulent towards the beneficiaries of the Rocky saga, Stallone expressed his dissatisfaction in a very raw way on social networks.
“Once again, Irwin Winkler, that pathetic 94-year-old producer [il a en réalité 91 ans] and his stupid vulture children Charles and David, gnaw to the marrow the carcass of a wonderful character that I created, without even telling me about it”he said in an Instagram post in August 2022.
“I want to apologize to the fans. I never wanted Rocky’s characters to be exploited by these parasites”he hammered. “Hollywood’s most hated, least talented, most decrepit producer and his cowardly children have found their next prey…Draco?”he had concluded, furious at being left out.
However, we still have no information on the concrete start of such a project. Dolph Lundgren spoke on this subject on instagramtrying to ease tensions.
“Just to set the record straight about a Draco spin-off. There’s no approved script, no signed contracts, no director. Besides, I really felt like my friend Sylvester Stallone was involved in this project, as a producer or an actor”he indicated, specifying that he did not think that it would be done without his agreement.
Can Rocky still come back in Creed 4? If we are to believe the statements of Michael B. Jordan before the filming of the 3rd opus, this also seems to be compromised.
“There will always be the spirit and the very essence of Rocky in this saga. There will always be a bit of Rocky in Adonis Creed”said Michael B. Jordan at the microphone ofIGN.
“However, it’s a Creed franchise. We really wanted to build this story and this universe around Adonis to allow him to move forward, to emancipate himself”, he added. There is therefore little hope that Rocky Balboa will return to the big screen alongside his colt.
In any case, Michael B. Jordan does not intend to stop at the world of boxing and the Creed Universe. “There are a few ideas, genres I want to try. I’m not sure what direction I’m going to take yet, but I’m looking into it”confided the artist in the columns of Collider.
“After Creed 3, my phone rang a lot, which shocked me. But it also filled me with humility, I think my work speaks for itself and that’s very cool”he concluded, revealing that proposals for realization have reached him.
