Actor Michael K. Williams died in early September. Now the coroner has announced the cause of death.
Michael K. Williams (1966-2021) died of a drug overdose. According to “People”, this has now been confirmed by the authority investigating the actor’s death. The cause of death was “acute poisoning from the combined effects of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine,” said the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. The actor’s death is classified as an accident.
The “Wire” star was found lifeless in his Brooklyn apartment on September 6th. He was 54 years old. Drug paraphernalia are said to have been seized in the apartment.
Successful career
Michael K. Williams, whose trademark was a striking scar on his face, was in the cinema, among others in “Gone Baby Gone” (2007), “12 Years a Slave” (2012) and “Assassin’s Creed” (2016) see. He became known to a larger audience in the role of the street gangster Omar Little in the crime series “The Wire”. From 2002 to 2008 he played this.
He later enjoyed great success as the alcohol smuggler Chalky White in “Boardwalk Empire” (2010-2014). Williams received another Emmy nomination this year for his portrayal of Montrose Freeman in Lovecraft Country. He played the role since last year.
