Michael Michalsky: The lockdown doesn't bother him

The corona pandemic has also left its mark on fashion designer Michael Michalsky. Nevertheless, he considers a lockdown to be necessary.

Germany has tightened the corona measures again. Chancellor Angela Merkel (66) justified the partial lockdown in the Bundestag, interrupted by many interjections. Designer Michael Michalsky (53) cannot really understand the general protests, as he explains in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

The designer thinks the lockdown is necessary: "It doesn't bother me. I can adjust myself. So what's the point of complaining?" Not only the 53-year-old had to change, the entire fashion industry was badly shaken by the corona pandemic. Many fashion weeks like the one in Paris only took place as digital fashion weeks. A concept that is well received by Michalsky: "There were some innovative approaches to be seen. For example, Moschino, who performed their show including first-row guests as a puppet play."

He waived part of his salary

Unlike many of his colleagues, the designer got through the crisis months more or less lightly. He was "fortunately not as badly affected as many colleagues" and reveals: "We had a period of short-time work for some of the employees. I also waived part of my salary. But now we have been able to overcome the bottlenecks with new orders." The former "Germany's next top model" jury looks forward to the future positively: "Every crisis offers opportunities!"
