Michael Saylor: Bitcoin maximalist accused of tax evasion

The District of Columbia Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday via tweet known to indict Bitcoin advocate and tech billionaire Michael Saylor for tax evasion. Saylor is supposed to be loud indictment with the help of his company MicroStrategy, underpaid about $25 million in income taxes. His company is also in the dock for aiding and abetting tax evasion.

Saylor, who recently resigned as CEO, deliberately registered his address in the tax-friendly state of Florida, according to prosecutors. In fact, he is said to have lived in a penthouse in DC. He was also liable to pay taxes there.

Saylor and MicroStrategy denied the allegations in a statement. The company’s share price fell 6 percent when the news broke on Wednesday.
