At the ESC 2021, Germany is placing its hopes on Jendrik Sigwart. What does Michael Schulte think of the singer?
Michael Schulte (30) was Germany's great hope with "You Let Me Walk Alone" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Although he could not get the victory, he got a solid fourth place – the best position for Germany since Lena Meyer-Landruts (29) Triumph 2010 with "Satellite". Since then, the success has fallen asleep again. The duo S! Sters ("Sister") could not convince and landed in 2019 on the penultimate place.
Ben Dolic (23, "Violent Thing") did not even compete with his song because the ESC 2020 was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new hope for 2021 is now Jendrik Sigwart (26), who wants to convince with his good mood song "I Don't Feel Hate" on May 22nd in Rotterdam. The reactions to this year's ESC song are mixed – for some, the song is too wacky, others expect Germany to have a real chance. What does Michael Schulte say about it?

"It's always super difficult to say what the chances are," explains the 30-year-old in an interview with the news agency spot on news. "Tastes always differ widely and you can really only be wrong when typing." Much also depends on the staging, "how the song is ultimately brought to the stage".
"The song doesn't quite meet my personal taste, but I think the song is brave and fun!" Continues Schulte. Is it possible to participate in the ESC again?
Would Michael Schulte himself take part in the Eurovision Song Contest again? "I would never say never!" He replies. "I don't think that's really an option in the next few years, it wouldn't really work out in terms of time and I think there are many good German newcomers who would have deserved the chance to show their music there. But I should At some point in ten years, for example, I would ask if I would run again because things went very badly for Germany recently, then I could imagine doing that. "
At the moment, the singer is mainly taking time for his family. On Friday (March 12th) Schulte and his wife Katharina became parents again. Her second son is named Lenny. But Michael Schulte doesn’t hold back professionally: "As far as professional is concerned, everything is very difficult to plan in the music industry, especially in the live sector. But of course there will always be new music! Now for example the new single 'Stay' since March 12th. In our private lives we are very happy about the offspring and the intensive time together! "
