Michael Wendler: "Really cheap! – Fans laugh at the bizarre video on the net

Michael Wendler and his wife Laura Müller landed a huge advertising deal with a well-known supermarket chain. The pop singer has rewritten his hit "Egal" for the accompanying music video – and the internet community laughs.

Michael Wendler, 48, and his young wife Laura Müller, 20, polarize mainly because of the large age difference as well as because of their appearance on the Internet. Again and again, the two present themselves with humorous content on their social media channels – knowing full well that the Internet community will talk about it. A large supermarket manufacturer who has signed the two of them for a major campaign is now flirting with them. Wendler and Müller are once again the laughing stock on the Internet.

Michael Wendler: "Regardless" becomes "Regal"

For the commercial, Michael Wendler slips into the same outfit that he wears in the music video for his hit "Egal" and unceremoniously changes his song into "Regal". Instead of on a motorboat, the hit man glides through the market on a shopping cart and sings about the goods on offer there. On top of that there are "young vegetables" in the form of Laura Müller, who coquettishly holds a tin can in the camera.

The spot runs under the slogan "Really cheap" and so Wendler also ends the video when he stands at the cash register and sees the low price of EUR 20.48. Without paying, the singer grabs his grocery bag and leaves the store – just one of the scenes the internet makes fun of.

Michael Wendler's new advertising deal: The network is divided

The music video is only available online, and the song is also played in the branches. There is also a matching Instagram filter, the "(Ver) Wendler", with which the fans can transform themselves into Michael Wendler. On YouTube, Facebook and Instagram you can read several thousand comments within half a day – and not all of them are well-disposed towards the DSDS juror and the pretty influencer. The network community is most amused by the fact that Wendler did not even pay for his purchase in the video. Some even want to boycott the supermarket chain, while others take the campaign with humor.

"My God, that's embarrassing! If you'd rather have invested the money for the commercial in your stores. If you like, also in the salary increases for your saleswomen," comments a follower below the video on the store's official Facebook account. "So far I've been a fan of Kaufland. Since Wendler I've had to rethink this. It's a shame," says another critically and, "… one shouldn't argue about taste – but that's abnormal – Kaufland didn't do itself a favor – me I would be interested in what the 'great' singer got for this advertisement, "writes a third.

Also positive comments on Michael Wendler

Among the postings on the net there are also friendly voices: "I don't like Wendler, but I didn't laugh anymore," writes one user, "The video gave me the laugh of the day today," agrees another . A Facebook user defends the commercial and the supermarket chain: "Boa guys, really. How you line up here. (…) As if the guy walks around in every Kaufland and jumps out from behind the shelf. Stay on the carpet. Ridiculous , honest." At least one thing is certain: Michael Wendler definitely knows how to get into conversation.
