Michael Wendler: RTL wants to exhaust "all legal means" against him

Michael Wendler can get rid of his TV wedding. RTL announces that it will exhaust "all available legal means".

With his confused theses on the "alleged corona pandemic", Michael Wendler (48) lost sight of the German TV landscape. Not only are a number of contracts terminated, according to his manager, RTL may now even want to take legal action against the singer. In a statement by the station boss Jörg Graf (54) on Friday (October 9th): "We will examine and exhaust all legal means available to us."

The artist is therefore no longer given a platform. "The live wedding will definitely not take place on RTL", Graf makes it clear. The original plan was to broadcast the church wedding of Wendler and Laura Müller (20) live on television in 2021 (also on TVnow). However, since the 48-year-old "canceled our contract independently and without consulting and vilified RTL", this plan is no longer adhered to.

What about "DSDS"?

Wendler announced on Thursday evening that he was stepping down from his jury position for "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" with immediate effect. How does the casting show continue? "We are currently in the middle of the production of the current season and are also discussing the jury issue. What is certain is that we have three great jurors," says the station boss. One would like to have such a successful show "certainly not spoiled by a conspiracy theorist", let alone dictate "how and what we broadcast".

"The current case shows again that the entertainment industry seems to be particularly vulnerable," the statement said. Therefore, the station wants to "dedicate itself journalistically to the phenomenon of conspiracy theories" in the coming weeks. They have "a special responsibility" and want to "contribute to the clarification with facts".
