Michel Berger: this day when he got angry with Johnny Hallyday

Thursday April 28, 2022, Yves Bigot was invited on the set of C à vous. During the program, the journalist revealed an anecdote concerning Michel Berger and Johnny Hallyday.

That was nearly thirty years ago… On August 2, 1992, Michael Berger succumbed to a heart attack following a game of tennis, at the age of 44. On the occasion of the reissue of a biography dedicated to the artist, Yves Bigot, journalist and general manager of TV5 Monde, visited the set of It’s up to you. The latter notably returned to the anger that Michel Berger had had against Johnny Hallyday. “I remember the day when he was furious because Johnny, to whom he had written the whole album Rock’n’Roll attitude… Johnny sang for the launch of Jacques Chirac’s presidential campaign. At Vincennes, he sang: ‘We all have something in us by Jacques Chirac’“, he recounted.

Faced with Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine and her columnists, Yves Bigot recalled: “Michel, furious, calls me: ‘I’m coming. Where are you ? I’m coming, I want to speak on Europe 1 right away and I want you to do a paper in Libé tomorrow to say that obviously I don’t agree! Tennesse Williams, a homosexual author, has nothing to do with Jacques Chirac.’ He was furious! With a smile on his face, the reporter added:He had forced me to take out my Nagra right away to record so that in the next journal it would pass immediately!

Johnny Hallyday greatly appreciated Michel Berger

During an interview given in April 2017, Johnny Hallyday spoke with emotion of the disappearance of the husband of France Gall. “I was in Saint-Tropez when he had his illness and died. It shocked me at the time, I’ve rarely cried in my life, and I think I cried that day. I miss him a lot, he was a wonderful composer and a very good friend“, he dropped. Referring to his personality, the singer added: “He was someone very meticulous, very delicate, extremely shy, while being very generous and very kind, someone I loved very much. He was very faithful in friendship, which touched me enormously. Once the album was finished, we could have never seen each other! And no, he called me every day.
