(Boursier.com) — NASA has awarded Intuitive Machines Inc (Nasdaq: LUNR, LUNRW) $30 million as ‘prime contractor’ to define a roadmap to develop and deploy a lunar terrain vehicle. The award of the first launch phase of the project aims to implement human spaceflight operations as part of NASA’s $4.6 billion LTV Services project.
The team’s partners, including AVL, Boeing, Michelin And Northrop Grumman, intend to provide a robust LTV design architecture with advanced energy management, autonomous driving, communications and navigation systems for lunar exploration. The company believes that the Moon RACER team is the most advanced choice for the delivery and deployment of a lunar all-terrain vehicle meeting NASA requirements.
