On her parole, Michelle Martin had obtained the right to join the monastery of the Poor Clares of Malonne, in Namur. A few months earlier, she had tried to join a convent in France, in the Doubs, but had finally had to give up. In this Belgian convent, the ex-wife of Marc Dutroux worked 20 hours a week for the good of the congregation. All outside contact was then forbidden to him. In 2015, the sisters moved and did not wish to be followed by Michelle Martin. The latter then moved to Floreffe, near Malonne, in the property of a former judge who claimed to believe in rehabilitation. Since then, the most hated woman in Belgium has been very discreet.

Michelle Martin: is she still in contact with her children?

Michelle Martin and Marc Dutroux had three children together. In 2010, when his mother had not yet been released from prison, Frédéric, the eldest, confided in a Belgian media. He had notably declared that he no longer had contact with his mother: “I haven’t seen her for a few years. I still have a few contacts but sometimes we have trouble understanding each other. However, they are both my parents, even if I don’t have much in common with them. them”. He also mentioned the possibility of their release: “If I hope to see them free one day? For them, perhaps, not for me. I don’t care. After a certain age, you become harmless, even if you are sick. So if they can rephrase a semblance of normal life to live their old age somewhere other than in prison, I wish them but I do not expect a family life with them.I try to make my life, to found a family and a happy home. I do not have to assume their trauma to them. It is not the role of children “.
