Mick Schumacher speaks in an interview about the new Netflix documentary about his father and explains why he was involved in the project.

Mick Schumacher (22) has in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag” talked about the upcoming documentary about his father Michael Schumacher (52), which will premiere on September 15 on Netflix. He worked on the project because “my dad is the best driver in the history of Formula 1 and he deserves to have such a documentary,” explains the racing driver.

The film offers “very beautiful pictures, a lot of emotions and something that every fan can look forward to,” explains Schumacher. “It’s very special when you see this documentary. I’ve already seen it and I can say: Time will definitely not be wasted.” The documentary should not only be about the career of the seven-time world champion, but above all about intimate insights into his life. Among other things, fans get to see previously unpublished archive material and rare interviews. Family members of the iconic racing driver, who had a serious accident in a skiing accident in 2013, also have their say, including Schumacher’s father Rolf, brother Ralf (46), Schumi’s wife Corinna (52) and his two children Gina (24) and Mick.

Motorsport as a profession: Mick Schumacher has “never regretted” the decision

After the first half of the season, “everything is still very exciting and still a lot of fun”, Mick Schumacher, who drives for the Haas racing team, draws an initial Formula 1 conclusion in the interview. “I feel very comfortable in the car and with the team. That is a big plus. And when asked where I can still improve, the answer is: Everywhere.” The 22-year-old decided in 2011 at the kart track in Kerpen that he wanted to become a professional one day. “I was sitting there with dad and we discussed: ‘Are we going to continue doing this as a hobby, or are we going to do it on a professional level?’” Within seconds he replied, “I want to try to make motorsport my profession . I have never regretted this decision. “
