The Amerzone: The Explorer’s Testament is making a comeback with a remake. Microids draws freely from its old catalog to find new titles, and in 2024 it is the adventure game by Benoît Sokal which was selected. Expected on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, this new version offers more modern visuals while expanding the gameplay.
This trailer shows us some environments of the Amerzone, this fictional country on the borders between real and imaginary. Immersed in a lush forest, an old churchman lays the foundations of the story. A man is dead, which pushes the protagonist to fulfill his duty: bring back the egg of the white birds. To do this, we cross various places with limited access, asking us to solve puzzles, find keys or even hidden passages to progress. The adventure will lead us to discover ever more dreamlike places.
But the most intriguing part of this announcement remains the mention “Gameplay not final”. Despite a date set for 2024, the remake of The Amerzone: The Explorer’s Testament therefore does not seem finished. We can therefore expect, if this changes between now and then, a more modern and easier-to-use gameplay. However, future changes should not distort the original experience too much.
