Microlino: the rival of the Citroën Ami is about to land in France

Presented in 2016, the Microlino finally unveils its range and its prices, before its marketing scheduled for 2023.

There was the Renault Twizy, in 2011. Located between the scooter and the cart without a license, the electric micro-city car was then the first representative of a new genre, with its electric motorization and its stripped-down endowment. Still marketed, it must now face increasingly tough competition, especially with the arrival of the Citroën Ami in 2020.

The electric city car with chevrons, accessible from €6,000 thanks to numerous state aids, has indeed been a resounding success, with already more than 20,000 copies sold since its launch. It would seem that the mode of trendy small quadricycles is well and truly launched, as a new player is about to arrive on the market in the coming months.

An amazing city car

Called Microlino, this newcomer to the market was presented in 2016 and was originally to be marketed two years later. The brand has just officially unveiled all the details of its micro-city car via a 25-minute YouTube live. Scheduled for next year, the electric city car has the particularity of having a monocoque self-supporting body (like the Tesla Model 3), a first in the segment. The advantage is increased safety, better handling and longer life. In addition, according to the brand, it differs from its rivals by greater autonomy, power and trunk size.

Enough room for two adults and three cases of beer

The Microlino can indeed travel no less than 230 kilometers on a single charge with the largest Lithium-Ion battery (NMC/NCA technology) (14 kWh), compared to only 75 kilometers for the Citroën Ami. It will also be possible to choose batteries with a lower capacity (6 and 10.5 kWh), with respectively 91 and 177 kilometers of autonomy. The car has no less than 12.5 kW of power, or around 17 horsepower, with a torque of 89 Nm, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in 5 seconds, while the trunk can hold 230 liters. Microlino even announces that the chest contains ” enough room for two adults and three cases of beer“. Between three and four hours are then necessary to fully recharge the battery of the micro-city car on a domestic outlet.

Several versions available

Several variations will be proposed, baptized Urban, Dolce and Competizione, distinguished by different battery sizes and specific aesthetic details. A Pioneer Edition will first be offered at launch, limited to 999 units and equipped with the 10.5 kWh battery, the largest in the catalog. It will also be possible to become a member of the Pioneer service, giving the right to various advantages and priority delivery. The first deliveries are scheduled for the end of 2022, in Switzerland. We will have to wait until 2023 for France.

From 12,500 euros and with license B

If you subscribe before the end of the year, count €1,999 for a lifetime subscription. From 2023, it will be necessary to pay €1,000 per year. What about the price of the car? This is displayed from €12,500 in its entry-level version. A price that does not include the ecological bonus, which is 900 euros since it is a heavy quadricycle of category L7e (90 km/h) which requires the B license (automobile) and therefore to have at least 18 years old. It is therefore not really a competitor of the Citroën Ami which is a light quadricyle L6e (45 km / h) accessible with the BSR from 14 years old accessible at a price twice as affordable.
