Microsoft’s productivity apps have long been a cornerstone of many people’s daily workflow. In March, Microsoft revealed that its most popular Microsoft 365 apps were getting an AI upgrade with the introduction of Microsoft Copilot.
Since March, Microsoft has been testing Copilot with 20 enterprise customers. Starting this week, Copilot will move from a limited testing phase to a broader customer base through an early access program to Microsoft 365 Copilot. The Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program is an invite-only paid preview that will initially roll out to 600 customers.
Microsoft also announced new features in addition to previously announced AI integrations with Microsoft Business Chat, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.
A semantic index for Copilot
The tech giant will begin rolling out a semantic index for Copilot, a new feature in Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 that will function as “a sophisticated map of user and enterprise data,” according to the statement.

DALL-E, OpenAI’s popular image generator, will be available in Powerpoint so users can instruct Copilot to create custom AI-generated images within the platform.

When creating emails, users will be able to ask the AI for suggestions on clarity, sentiment, and tone.

Finally, Copilot will also arrive in OneNote, Loop, Whiteboard and Viva Learning to help with idea generation, organization, collaboration.
