Microsoft announces a golden Xbox controller, but not bling-bling

Microsoft is announcing a new special edition Xbox Series controller this week. Called “Gold Shadow”, the latter wears a showy gold and black dress, certainly, but which manages to avoid the bling-bling.

After the Stellar Shift special editions (which focused on nebulous-looking blue and purple reflections), or even Starfield (with a retro-futuristic look in the colors of the eponymous game), and while Microsoft maintains a “ Remixes», more virtuous (which we were able to take in hand), the firm is announcing this week a new special edition Xbox Series controller. Named “Gold Shadow», the latter this time focuses on a gold and black covering with “shiny metallic finish», underlines Microsoft.

This new controller also adopts rubberized grips with “diamond shaped patterns» to provide better grip, as well as a textured coating for the triggers and the rear of the chassis, we read.

A very classic controller for the rest

Beyond this new color and these few small adjustments in terms ofgrip, this new controller for Xbox Series S and X remains very classic. Based on Bluetooth technology, it can of course easily connect to devices other than Microsoft consoles (PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc.). There is also a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones or wired earphones, and the whole thing is powered by two AA batteries.

As with most other Xbox controllers, you will therefore have to go back to checkout to obtain a rechargeable battery. As a reminder, the official pack including an Xbox rechargeable battery and a USB-C charging cable is sold for 22.99 euros by Microsoft, separately.

This special edition “Gold Shadow» is in any case expected on October 17 on the Microsoft Store at a price of 69.99 euros, then at the main resellers, but visibly at the end of October this time.
