Microsoft: Bing’s AI is now accessible to everyone


Initially offered to a privileged few after registration on a waiting list, the newly boosted AI search engine Bing is now open to the general public. Microsoft confirmed the information in a press release published this Thursday, May 4, also announcing new features for “the next generation of Bing and Edge”.

Microsoft explains that the new Bing is now in “open preview” and no longer has a waiting list. This means that everyone will now be able to try out the new Bing and Edge by simply logging into Bing with a Microsoft account. The company also intends to provide richer and more visual answers, in particular via tables and graphs and through a new formatting of answers.

Another novelty: the integration of Bing Image Creator into the Bing chatbot. An Image Creator tool, allowing you to create images from a textual command, which is enriched by the way since it is accessible to all the languages ​​supported by Bing (more than 100 languages). Microsoft specifies that Edge will gradually change visually to improve the integration of AI, and that Bing will be able to process multimodal searches. In sum, it will be possible to upload images through the chatbot and search the web for related content.

“Two of the most requested features we’ve heard are maintaining access to your chat history and the ability to share and export”, comments Microsoft. Wish granted then, since it will soon be possible to pick up where you left off and return to previous searches in the Bing chat with the chat history. The export and sharing function will also soon make it possible to share with other people, on social networks for example, conversations held with the chatbot or to integrate them into Word.

Finally, Mobile Edge will soon include Page Context, so you can ask questions related to the mobile page you’re viewing in Bing Chat. So many new functions that will also contribute to the growth of Bing and Edge, obviously boosted by the integration of the chatbot. “In just 90 days, our customers engaged in more than half a billion chats, using chat features to get summarized answers to help them with everything from finding the best place to travel for a person allergic to pollen to a tabular summary of volcanic activity on earth over the past ten years”welcomed Yusuf Mehdi, the corporate vice-president and director of consumer marketing.
