While a ChatGPT application has been available for several months on iPhone and Android, Microsoft limited access to the artificial intelligence-boosted conversational agent to its Bing application. From now on, a dedicated app is available for Copilot. For the moment, only users of Android smartphones and tablets can benefit from it.
An Android application for Copilot, when will there be an iPhone?
Bing’s monopoly on Microsoft’s conversational agent did not last long.
During the month of November 2023, the Redmond firm unified its different tools by merging its AI assistant (Bing Chat) with its various software such as Edge, the Office suite or even Windows (Microsoft Copilot) under the same name: Microsoft Copilot .
During this period, Microsoft also decided to extract its conversational agent from Bing. We were thus entitled to a dedicated website: copilot.microsoft.com. A similar scheme has just been implemented on mobile.
Neowin, for its part, discovered that the American company had been offering users of Android smartphones and tablets a Copilot application via the Play Store for almost a week.
Microsoft has not yet communicated on this subject, and has not launched an iOS version. You will therefore have to continue to use the Bing application on iPhone and iPad to continue to benefit from the capabilities of GPT-4 and Dall-E 3.
As a reminder, Microsoft plans to move Copilot up a gear in 2024, in particular with support for GPT4-Turbo, multimodal search, a code interpreter and even text rewriting in Edge.
