Microsoft Defender: Soon also for Android, iOS and macOS!

For years, the standard malware protection in Windows was simply called Windows Defender. Almost exactly a year ago, the name was changed to Microsoft Defender, probably because Microsoft has since been offering protection to corporate customers for macOS, Linux, iOS and Android – with the suffix Aadvanced Thurt Protation (ATP). For private customers, the service was previously only available for Windows. Recently, negative headlines have been made public about an embarrassing vulnerability in Microsoft Defender. But that doesn’t seem to stop Microsoft from offering the software on additional platforms in the future: A preview version of Microsoft Defender is listed in the Microsoft Store, the description promises protection for “Windows, Apple and Android”.

Microsoft Defender: Coming soon to all devices

As Windows Latest reports, the store page sometimes named “Mac” and “iOS” as target systems instead of “Apple” – in addition to Windows and Android. And authors of the Italian blog Agiornamenti Lumia published a image, which shows a revised Windows variant of the Defender and an Android app. Microsoft announced the new version of Microsoft Defender for Windows a few months ago. one too Screenshot of the program with an overview of protected devices – named Mona’s Android, Family Desktop and Mona’s MacBook – the bloggers tracked down and published on Twitter.

From this it can be concluded that Microsoft will advertise its Defender as protection for the whole family. A release date for the software has not yet been set. However, Windows Latest expects a release in a few months. Apparently, protection should be free on all platforms.
