To do this, you have several options:

  • Go to edge://settings/content/mediaAutoplay and select Block from the drop-down menu
  • Or go through Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Media Autoplay

Note that Microsoft is gradually rolling out this feature to the Canary Channel. In fact, do not panic if you cannot access it immediately. Remember all the same that Microsoft is just content to simplify the maneuver here.

Blocking autoplay remains possible on the stable version

Indeed, all Edge users, regardless of version, can restore the Block option for videos to autoplay. Handling is a little more complicated, however, sinceyou have to activate an experimental flag via the following link : edge://flags/#edge-autoplay-user-settings-block-option.

Once the option is activated, you will first need to restart your browser. This done, it will be possible to access the autoplay permissions and select the “Block” option. Note that it is also allowed to apply preferences according to the sites.

As a reminder, Microsoft recently unveiled a new tool for Edge that can improve the quality of your old videos. baptized Video Super Resolutionit leverages machine learning to upscale low-quality videos.
