Microsoft Edge has a new ultra-comprehensive screenshot tool, here’s how to activate it

Microsoft Edge is adorned with a new screenshot tool, with an enriched side.

For several months now, Microsoft has been optimizing its Edge browser with a lot of new features. In addition to a brand new split-screen function, Microsoft Edge is also able to block the automatic playback of videos, but also to improve the quality of images (even if it means being a little too indiscreet).

Today, a new function is being tested in the general public version of the browser.

New for Microsoft Edge

On the screen capture side, under Windows 11 and macOS, Microsoft is currently testing a new function very simply called “Screenshot”. The latter should ultimately replace the existing tool and is distinguished by an enriched side, which allows you to save all or part of a web page, then edit it on the fly, always on Edge.

The feature has, for example, a built-in magnifying glass for pixel-perfect capture. It also allows you to benefit from various editing options, such as adding text, circles, drawing, blurring, etc.

How to launch this screenshot function?

Please note, however, that although this new tool is available in the stable version of Microsoft Edge, it remains for the moment hidden behind a “flag” (experimental functions). It is imperative to activate the latter by your own means. To do this, you must follow these few steps:

• Open Microsoft Edge;
• Type “Edge://flags” in the address bar;
• Find the Microsoft Edge Screenshot option and activate it;
• Restart the browser.

Once restarted, the new Screenshot function will be accessible directly from the menu at the top right of the browser. Ultimately, the latter should be activated by default within Edge, probably through a future update.
