Good news for users Microsoft Edge : the browser will soon welcome a brand new automatic video translation functionality.
Last week, the Redmond firm deployed version 119 of Microsoft Edge. The browser then took the opportunity to receive some welcome improvements, starting with better management of data compression and a significantly improved multitasking dimension.
Obviously determined to continue its efforts to climb the rankings of the most used browsers in the world, Microsoft Edge will soon be equipped with a video translation functionality.
Soon a video translation tool in Microsoft Edge?
In the latest update to Microsoft Edge Canary, users noticed the arrival of a brand new video translation function. Concretely, when hovering over a video (and not only on YouTube), the browser displays a new “Translate” button, as reported to us by our colleagues at Bleeping Computer.
If, for the moment, clicking on this button does not result in any action (the functionality is probably still being tested), everything suggests that the Redmond firm is preparing to equip its browser with a translation system video in real time.
As you can see above, via Leopeva64’s post on X.com (formerly Twitter), clicking on the translate button brings up a drop-down menu allowing you to select the language of your choice from four options: English, French, Russian and Spanish.
A feature currently under development, but which should soon be available
As you will have understood, the translation functionality is, for the moment at least, still not operational. On the other hand, and while waiting for Microsoft to officially communicate the first details regarding this function, we can easily imagine that such a new feature would allow Edge to stand out from its main competitors, in addition to conquering the hearts of new users. .
The addition of this tool in Microsoft Edge would also make video content accessible to as many people as possible, thus overcoming language barriers. In any case, the Redmond firm should not wait too long before making this automatic translation functionality fully functional.
