Once again, it is Leopeva64 who exclusively reveals to us a feature that could make Edge, Microsoft’s browser that evolves at the speed of light.
Leopeva explains the principle of this new tool which is still only available for certain Microsoft Edge users on the Canary channel. The Internet user declares on Twitter: “the new PDF translation panel works (in Edge Canary). There are several options, including searching for selected text (which doesn’t work yet), listening to the translation, or suggesting an edit. In fact, Internet users will therefore be able to open a PDF document in Edge, and optical character recognition technology will automatically recognize and transcribe the displayed text.
You can select all or part of the text as you usually do, with the mouse. You will click on the translate button to bring up the translate panel PDF.
Edge will offer an automatic PDF translation tool in a side panel
This panel offers several tools to modify the source language and the target language, but also to search for terms, enlarge the text or even vocalize the highlighted terms.

The most astute observers will note that it is already possible to take advantage of the translation in the main Microsoft Edge windowin :
- selecting Settings in Edge, then “Settings > Languages”
- activating the option “Ask me to translate pages that are written in a language I don’t know”
- When visiting a website in a foreign language, click on theTranslate icon in address bar
- check the box “Always translate pages into Spanish”, for example to translate all websites into this language
This feature is also available in Google Chrome, but its integration into Edge will prove very useful to Internet users who want to try a browser other than Chrome. Microsoft’s browser is also enriched with exclusive functions. Edge will thus become more powerful thanks to the arrival of ChatGPT plugins in its chatbot.
