Microsoft announced last Tuesday a “next wave of commercial data protection”. These updates will allow more users who have an Entra ID account, professionals or students, to access Copilot’s commercial data protection. And to do this, they will only have to identify themselves, without this generating additional costs.

This data protection offered by Microsoft addresses the main privacy concerns related to the use of generative AI chatbots by ensuring that questions and answers are not saved, but also that usage data is not used to train underlying models. Finally, it also ensures that Microsoft does not have visual access to the data of its users or chatbots, underlines the press release.

The presence of a “Protected” badge next to the profile photo of a Microsoft account will assure the holder that data protection is activated. The badge will be accompanied by a message, above the text box, stating: “Your personal and company data is protected. »

Availability at the end of the month
Available from the end of February on mobile in the Copilot application, on the main web browsers including Microsoft Edge, but also in the Windows taskbar, the additional protection will be aimed at holders of the following licenses: Microsoft 365 F1, Microsoft Office 365 E1/E1 Plus/E3/E5/F3, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, and Microsoft 365 Apps for business, the press release said.
“This new wave significantly expands the number of users eligible for commercial data protection in Copilot, paving the way for more creativity and better productivity for many organizations and schools,” argues Microsoft.
