Microsoft increases Bing’s AI limit to 120 messages per day

Microsoft seems to be having a hard time finding the right balance for Bing’s chatbot. After the search engine’s artificial intelligence attacked certain users, the firm decided to lower the limit of messages available per day to 60. Today, it has been raised to 120.

Since the arrival of ChatGPT within Bing just a month ago, Internet users have had fun pushing AI to its limits. Unexpectedly, it didn’t take long for the chatbot to show its limits, and not in the most courteous way. Indeed, some users have received threats from the AI, while they sometimes do not hesitate to avoid certain awkward questions.

Also, Microsoft was quick to adjust some sliders and bring some limitations to the technology to avoid further disasters. Quickly, users could no longer ask certain questions and above all, it was only possible to send 60 messages per day to the chatbot, justifying only long conversations to confuse the latter.

Microsoft raises Bing’s AI message limit

Mikhail Parakhin, head of advertising and web services at Microsoft, spoke out on the matter yesterday, saying on Twitter that Bing Chat has indeed suffered a “regression” the last days. But it is also resolutely optimistic. Indeed, he announces that a return to normal should soon take place, while the message limit will soon be revised upwards.

For now, Microsoft seems to be aiming for a limit of 120 messages per day. In any case, the first tests seem conclusive, Mikhail Parakhin affirming that things “seem to hold up well” and that he hopes to soon be able to increase the capabilities of artificial intelligence again. Bing Chat is therefore still far from having reached its final form. We should see many changes to AI in the coming months, until it reaches satisfactory performance for Microsoft and Internet users.
