What if PS5 players could finally fly to the stars by launching Starfield on their precious home console? In any case, this is what several sources suggest, including the well-informed one – it seems – from xboxera.com. Indeed, the Redmond firm is preparing to release PS5 versions of its exclusive licenses. Starfield is concerned of course, but other titles would also be ready to land on Sony consoles, such as Sea of Thieves or Hi-Fi Rush. The latter could also be available much earlier than expected, since we are talking about a release on PS5 in early 2024.
A change of strategy
This is not the first time that a bridge between the two manufacturers has been established. After all, many games from Sony studios are available on PC: God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Sackboy, Uncharted and many licenses from the Japanese giant have experienced the joys of adaptation on machines running Windows. Moreover, we can’t really blame Microsoft, which would benefit from increasing the number of platforms for its productions, and therefore potential buyers. In addition, the American can always count on the Xbox Game Pass which offers not only a comprehensive catalog, but also AAA titles – like Starfield precisely or Hi-Fi Rush — available in the subscription from the day of their official release.
Cloud gaming is undoubtedly no stranger to this decision, since it is possible to play Xbox Game Pass games on many machines that have little to do with Xbox consoles. We can cite the Logitech G-Cloud for example or, in the same vein, Android smartphones.
Still, this decision, if confirmed, is excellent news for players, who will not have to increase the number of machines to be able to try all the titles that interest them. The Nintendo/Sega war of the 90s seems a long way away, even if, for now, Big N may well continue to go it alone for many years to come.
