Helped by the hybrid work advocated in business and the therefore natural solicitation of its Cloud, Microsoft announced very positive results for the last quarter.

Rest assured, Microsoft is doing well. If investors, always very sensitive, have rather badly received its last balance sheet on the stock market, because they expected growth as strong as for the previous quarters, the firm at the window does not have to be ashamed of the situation. . Indeed, all the indicators are green. Microsoft continues to operate its Azure cloud platform as successfully as ever, and Microsoft Office 365 services are naturally on the rise.

The Cloud, the main source of income at Microsoft

Microsoft, in the second quarter (ended December 31, 2021, fiscal quarters are staggered across the business), saw overall revenue increase 20% from 2020, which was $51.7 billion. dollars, or about 46 billion euros. Operating profit increased by 24% to 22.2 billion dollars (19.7 billion euros), while its net profit reached, in this quarter alone, 18.8 billion dollars (16. 7 billion euros), with a net increase of 22% over one year.

If three majority sections emerge at Microsoft, it is obviously that devoted to ” the Intelligent Cloud ”, which encompasses the Azure platform and other cloud computing services of the company, which arouses the most enthusiasm for the American giant. Its turnover increased by 26% in the last quarter to reach 18.3 billion dollars (16.21 billion euros).

The division ” Productivity and Business Processes from Microsoft, which includes Office 365 services for individuals and professionals, generated revenue of 15.9 billion dollars (14.1 billion euros), up 19%. LinkedIn, attached to this division, continues to grow, with revenues up 37%.

Windows and advertising render loyal services

During the last quarter, the division More Personal Computing “, which includes Windows and Xbox, also recorded a clear growth (+ 15%), with revenues estimated at 17.5 billion dollars (15.5 billion euros) by Microsoft.

Revenue from the operating system grew 25%, while revenue from Xbox content and services grew more moderately, up 10%. Advertising revenue, particularly from the news side of the business, grew by 32%. Surface, Microsoft tablets and computers, on the other hand, only grew by 8%, making it the product with the lowest growth in the last quarter.

Recall that Microsoft put nearly 70 billion dollars on the table last week to afford the publisher Activision Blizzard. A takeover that testifies, if necessary, to the very good health of the group founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
