  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 will receive important updates on Microsoft Patchday in June.
  • This month focuses on bug fixes and new features.
  • We provide you with a list of all cumulative updates.

With the patch day, Microsoft ensures that the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems remain up to date and receive the most important updates. In this way, it is prevented that problems arise on your computer or that you are vulnerable to vulnerabilities. The June update will also add a few small new functions.

However, these innovations are only minor things. The search interface of the taskbar has been improved under Windows 10 and now offers faster access to apps or files. In addition, three high-priority pop-up notifications can now be displayed at the same time.

The Windows 11 update ensures that you can now use Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) audio, provided your computer supports the function. The innovation ensures that significantly less power is consumed when using Bluetooth headphones on your PC without the audio quality suffering. In addition, the view of the OneDrive storage has been adjusted and you will receive an earlier warning when the storage is full.

In addition to these small innovations, bugs have also been fixed and adjustments made. In addition, 94 vulnerabilities were fixed with the June update. 32 of them can be exploited to remotely control your computer. Another 17 vulnerabilities can grant hackers elevated privileges on your PC. For this reason, you should definitely download the update. This is the only way to close the gaps and stay safe.

Last but not least, Windows 10 21H2 says goodbye to another version after it was the last patch day for Windows 10 version 20H2 last month. Effective immediately, support will be discontinued and no more security-related updates will be provided. The next patch day on October 10th is the end for Windows 11 21H2.

Windows Patch Day

If you are not sure which Windows version you are using, you can easily determine the Windows version and build number.

This is how you install the updates

If you use Windows 10 or Windows 11, you will usually receive the updates automatically. If available, they will be downloaded and installed the next time the system is started – provided you have not deactivated or paused the automatic update in Windows.

If you want to check the Microsoft servers yourself for available updates, you can find out how to install Windows updates manually in the following linked instructions.

Windows Patchday: Which versions of 8.1,10 and 11 will receive updates?

Windows 10 Home and Pro receive 18 months of support for this version from the release of a new main version. Users of the Enterprise and Education versions, on the other hand, have 30 months. Windows 8.1 will no longer receive extended support after January 10, 2023. This means that these systems will still receive all important security updates. However, it is recommended to switch to Windows 10 in time. You can also update to Windows 11 from here.

For Windows 7, patch day ended in January 2020. The operating system is no longer supplied with updates by Microsoft for private users. The same fate befell Windows 10 in the 2004 system version with the December 2021 patch day. In the future, only newer system versions will be provided with updates.

  • Windows 11 21H2: October 10, 2023

The easiest way to install a new system update is directly via the Windows Update function. Follow the path “Start” > “Settings” > “Update & Security” > “Windows Update” > “Check for updates”. Since Microsoft rolls out the updates in waves, you may only receive a system update at a later date.

The next dates for the Microsoft Patchday 2023
