  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 will receive security-relevant updates on Microsoft Patchday.
  • The September patch closes 59 security holes and fixes bugs.
  • We provide you with a list of all cumulative updates.

To ensure that Windows 10 and Windows 11 remain up to date, Microsoft provides updates for the operating systems on Patch Tuesday every second Tuesday of the month. These eliminate problems on your computer, offer new functions and protect you from hacker attacks.

You will receive new functions with the September patch, but quality improvements have been made under Windows 10. An authentication issue has been resolved in Windows 11. The bug resulted in the inability to join an Active Directory domain. The quality of the service stack has also been optimized so that updates can be received and installed better.

Also interesting…

However, the focus of the current patch day is on a serious threat to your Windows PC. The Windows HTML platform, the Microsoft Streaming Service, the kernel, 3D Builder and Microsoft Defender have serious security vulnerabilities. There are 59 gaps in total. Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Outlook and SharePoint are also affected. The vulnerability in Word is already being actively exploited by hackers to gain access to your computer.

Microsoft is keeping a low profile on the details of the security vulnerabilities so as not to provide cybercriminals with further information. What is known, however, is that attackers can gain system rights for your PC and not only take control of the computer, but can also gain access to sensitive data such as passwords. Microsoft provides a complete list of all 59 vulnerabilities and the affected applications.

Since all security gaps will be closed with the new update, it is extremely important that you install it as quickly as possible. This is the only way to guarantee that your computer is secure and you are protected from cyber threats. If you want to protect yourself additionally, we recommend installing an antivirus program.

This means that these systems still receive all important security updates. However, it is recommended to switch to Windows 10 in time. An update to Windows 11 is also possible from here.

Windows 8.1 no longer receives extended support as of January 10, 2023. Patch Tuesday ended for Windows 7 in January 2020.
