Last week, we announced that Microsoft would soon stop selling its Windows 10 operating system, in just a week. The company again reiterated the bad news on the product page “ January 31, 2023 will be the last day this Windows 10 download will be offered for sale” writes Microsoft. “Windows 10 will remain supported by security updates that help protect your PC from viruses, spyware, and other malware until October 14, 2025 “.

Although Windows 10 will no longer be officially offered for sale, Microsoft will not abandon the old operating system. The latter will still benefit from two and a half years of updates. If you still want to obtain a license, several solutions are available to you.

How to buy a Windows 10 license?

Currently, it is still possible to obtain a Windows 10 license on the official website, until January 31.. It is displayed at a price of 145 euros for the family version, and 259 euros for the Professional version.

However, after this date, you will have to turn to alternatives. We will obviously only mention legal solutions here. Even though Microsoft officially stops selling Windows 10, licenses will still be offered at different retailers. If you have access to an old PC with a product key sticker on the outside, you can use these codes to activate Windows 10 on your current PC.

If you plan to buy a new computer soon, we can therefore only advise you to make sure that it is running Windows 11, or has the minimum hardware configuration required by the new version. Remember that it is still possible to override the limitations and install Windows 11 on an incompatible PC, but this is not necessarily recommended for all users.
