One of Microsoft’s most popular services was almost completely unusable for the past few hours. In effect, Teams was hit by a major outage that is still not fully resolved.
A collaborative tool par excellence, Microsoft Teams is very frequently used within companies. Alas, it is not foolproof software and users had the misfortune to realize this on the night of July 20-21, 2022. A major outage effectively deprived the service of most of its functionality. Fortunately, the incident happened in the evening after the working day in the United States and in the middle of the night for Europeans.
Many sectors impacted
Probably global, the failure simply prevented launching or participating in conferences in voice or video. Some documents were also inaccessible. Other services included within Microsoft 365 were also victims of the incident. The American firm mentions in particular problems with Word, Office Online and SharePoint Online. The administration center is also affected.
But there is still good news since the situation is gradually returning to normal. Indeed, Microsoft announces that access to most services has been restored in the last few hours. Only a few features remain unavailable. Updates about the outage will be posted here.
