Microsoft Teams: the universal app optimized for Apple Silicon is available in beta

It will definitely have taken some time, but it’s now official: Microsoft has finally announced the availability, in beta version, of Microsoft Teams for Apple brand devices using Apple Silicon architecture.

Nearly two years after the marketing of its very first computer under the ARM architecture, Apple will finally be able to run Microsoft’s famous videoconferencing application natively.

Microsoft Teams soon optimized for Apple Silicon architecture

Since all this time, Microsoft Teams users equipped with a Mac with an M1 chip had to settle for software emulated via Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation technology. A solution that could cause many problems such as slowdowns and various optimization problems.

But the Redmond firm has finally decided to develop a version of Microsoft Teams designed for Apple’s Silicon architecture. If it is currently only available in beta version, it is still very good news as it should mark the end of many complications for many users. Thus, as soon as this universal version will be publicly accessible, it will be possible to go directly to the Microsoft website to download it.

Obviously, given that it is still only available in beta version, it is likely that this version of Microsoft Teams is not yet fully representative of the final performance. But now you at least know it’s only a matter of time before we see Microsoft Teams running as well on Apple Silicon as it does on Intel processors.
