Microsoft: the Your Phone application changes its name and evolves for more connectivity

Microsoft has just updated the Your Phone application, which allowed you to access your mobile directly from a computer.

Microsoft has been offering an in-house application for more than three years to link your Android smartphone to your computer. Named Your Phone, the latter notably allowed you to take advantage of the interface of your smartphone from your PC, but also to consult and answer your SMS, use your apps or even make calls.

As Windows 11 becomes more democratic, the Redmond company has decided to update this application to make it even more pleasant to use with the latest version of its operating system. This includes a change of name to display a little more clearly the principle of the program. It is now called Phone Link or Mobile connected on PC and Link with Windows on mobile, which actually seems less abstract than Your Phone.

Change of name… and appearance

The company took the opportunity to modify the somewhat obsolete graphic codes of the old version by adapting them to the design of Windows 11. On its site, the brand explains that it has modified the color palette and the general design in order to deliver an experience “more natural” on computer. The edges are now more rounded and the general iconography has changed.

In terms of use, Microsoft explains that notifications will now be better highlighted and that the navigation interface will allow more productivity, in particular thanks to better integration of the Office suite. With the next Windows 11 update, it will also be possible to install the program more easily via a QR Code. This will also be offered with each configuration of a new PC.

An opening to China

Microsoft intends to spread its application to as many machines as possible. The firm explains that these new features will also be available on the Chinese market thanks to a partnership with the Honor brand. The application is already compatible with the Magic V and the Magic 3 and 4 ranges.

Of course, the American recalls the existing links with the Surface Duo and its previous partnership with Samsung. Microsoft therefore hopes to attract as many Android users as possible by offering a more intuitive product, like its competitor Apple.
