Microsoft Viva makes it easier for you to reach your goals

Microsoft has released new analytics for Viva Goals to help organizations track the implementation of set goals and key results (OKRs) with staff.

The acquisition of goals and key results provider ally.io in 2021 allowed Microsoft to launch Viva Goals, which is one of the five modules of the Viva experience platform. The platform includes Viva Connections, Viva Learn, Viva Topics and Viva Insights. In September, Microsoft announced that it was adding new integration points in Viva Goals, including an improved Teams app that allows users to collaborate on OKRs.

The main new OKR-focused feature is the Analytics Dashboard, which allows admins to see staff adoption of OKRs, engagement, and other organizational insights.

Performance Metrics and Overview

Admins get a view of user counts and monthly active usage, as well as granular details such as activity types, number of goals achieved by OKR closures, and how teams are performing. engage with each other through comments. A chart in the dashboard appears to use Git-inspired terms, such as checkins, OKRs created, OKRs closed, and comments and reactions.

Microsoft plans to add more performance metrics, as well as giving team-level admins access to the dashboard.

Microsoft has also extended Viva Goals from a single check-in owner to allow multiple check-in owners to be responsible for successful OKRs. This works for both large projects and transition periods.

Additionally, Viva Goals administrators can set up access control systems using Azure Active Directory (AAD), as well as AAD identity federation to enable OKTA and Google authentication.

Teams, a separate app from Viva Goals

In December, Microsoft launched its “EU Data Residency” data sovereignty offering for Viva Goals, allowing EU-based customers and multinational corporations to store their data in European data centers.

Several Microsoft product integrations with Viva Goals are now generally available. These include the Dynamics 365 Viva Goals integration, which for example allows sales teams to automatically update their OKR progress from any Dynamics 365 application. The Power BI integration, which offers Data-driven charts and Microsoft Planner integration for task tracking and automatic goal updates in Viva Goals are also included.

Additionally, Teams is now a separate application of Viva Goals. Soon, users will be able to add OKRs as a tab in Teams and share OKRs in Teams chats and channels. Finally, Microsoft is working on Microsoft Project integration to connect Viva Goals OKRs, which will automatically update tasks and milestones as they are completed to show the status of connected OKRs and projects. .
