Microsoft warns: Windows 11 displays colors incorrectly

Microsoft advises that Windows 11 can display colors incorrectly under certain conditions.

Microsoft informs on a website – which was specially set up to describe the known problems of Windows 11 – that Windows 11 can display colors incorrectly. This is the color display in certain image processing programs on certain HDR screens.

According to Microsoft, this display problem would often be observed with white colors. These then appear in the image processing programs in light yellow or in other colors. According to Microsoft, the problem occurs when certain Win32 color rendering APIs return unexpected information or errors under certain conditions. Not all color profile management programs are affected and Microsoft expects that the color profile options available on the Windows 11 settings page, including the Microsoft color control, should work correctly.

Microsoft is already developing a patch

Microsoft is currently working on a solution and expects this solution to be available by the end of January 2022.

The US IT news website Windowslatest points out that the Windows 11 test versions for insiders already contain a fix that would solve this problem. However, if you only use the final version of Windows 11, you can select the Windows standard color profile as a workaround in the Windows control panel in order to avoid the display problem.
