Microsoft announces an event scheduled for May 20, 2024, which will present the manufacturer’s new developments in terms of artificial intelligence, as well as two new Surface ARMs.

A double ration of Surface awaits consumers in the coming weeks. A few days ago, we told you that Microsoft was preparing an event for March 21, 2024 to present new models in the Surface range. A new Surface Pro as well as a Surface Laptop should be announced, but these models should only be technical updates, with new Intel processors, and aimed at professional customers. Microsoft, however, has not forgotten its general public customers and is now announcing a new event for May 20, 2024, which should be rich in new hardware and software features.

Two new Surfaces with ARM processors

The Windows 11 publisher should first lift the veil on two new Surface models which would benefit from numerous improvements compared to the previous generation.

Microsoft would present a Microsoft Surface Pro 10, which would integrate a brand new OLED screen. This model would be the first in the range to benefit from this screen technology, where the previous Surface Pro offered an LED screen. We can also count on the announcement of a Surface Laptop 6 laptop, whose design would be significantly revised with rounder edges, refined screen borders and more complete connectivity.

Both devices would integrate an ARM Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor and would therefore run under Windows ARM. The introduction of these two models, among the most popular in the Surface range, would be an important message from Microsoft, which would focus more on the ARM version of its operating system and could encourage third-party manufacturers to develop more machines running ARM processors.

New AI capabilities for Windows 11

Microsoft would not just present hardware, and would announce new software products linked to artificial intelligence, its new hobby horse on which it invests tens of billions of dollars per year.

The publisher could present the AI Explorer functionality in detail. The latter would make it possible to create a timeline displaying the entire usage of your PC. The tool could thus find information displayed on the screen several weeks previously, after a simple text search in Microsoft Copilot.

Windows would also benefit from automatic translation capabilities for subtitles into another language, particularly for video calls, as well as an AI Super Resolution capability, similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS, which would use artificial intelligence to upscaler images from a video game.

These features should be available in the 24H2 version of Windows 11, available later this year.
