- The Ukrainian army announced on Tuesday that it had repelled Russian attacks near Avdiivka, in eastern Ukraine. Russians “attempt to surround the city”, the head of the military administration, Vitalii Barabash, said during the day, while Avdiïvka had been under Russian fire since the morning. According to him, some 1,600 residents still live in Avdiivka, compared to 30,000 before the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
- Volodymyr Zelensky claims that Russia seeks to carry out destabilizing actions throughout the world, particularly in the Middle East. “We are certain that Russia supports, in one way or another, the operations carried out by Hamas”said the Ukrainian president in an interview given to France 2.
- Russia failed on Tuesday to regain a seat on the UN Human Rights Council, from which it was excluded after its invasion of Ukraine. Moscow, however, received 83 votes, out of the 193 member states of the United Nations.
- Germany accelerates its arms deliveries to Ukraine before winter. Berlin will deliver new air defense systems, tanks and armored vehicles in the coming weeks, the Defense Ministry announced. The German company Rheinmetall announced an order from the German government to supply more than 150,000 artillery munitions to Ukraine.
- Helsinki suspects external intervention for the leak in the Finland-Estonia gas pipeline. Finnish investigators have not found any signs of the use of explosives, but the Norwegian Institute of Seismology said Tuesday it had detected a “probable explosion” in the area of the leak. Finnish sources told the BBC that “suspicion was of Russian sabotage in retaliation for Finland’s accession to NATO in April.”
- Ukrainian attack killed two civilians in Russia’s Belgorod region on Tuesday, border of Ukrainelocal governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.
