This Wednesday, 150 police and gendarmes arrived as reinforcements at the Franco-Italian border in Menton in the Alpes-Maritimes. An operation, intended to fight against the influx of migrants from Italy, and which was attended by Jordan Bardella, the president of the National Rally.

It was a promise from Elisabeth Borne. In order to cope with the influx of migrants, 150 additional police and gendarmes have been dispatched to Menton in the Alpes-Maritimes, at the Franco-Italian border. All this, under the eyes of Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally, who came to denounce the government’s “laxity” in immigration matters.

This Wednesday, he came to observe the two border posts and talk to the police. “The control is permanent, on the other hand it is not systematic. There is discernment”, indicates a policewoman to him. “Yes, I understood. You still have staff but you don’t necessarily stop all the cars,” replied the MEP.

“It is not only insufficient but it is totally derisory”

In an attempt to regulate illegal immigration, 100 to 200 migrants from Italy are arrested daily at the border. Most by road or on foot, but also by train or by sea. According to Jordan Bardella, the reinforcements arriving this Wednesday will not be enough to stem the migratory wave. “It is not only insufficient but it is totally ridiculous. The problem today is European”, he judges. “Above all, we need to radically change direction. Today, we are asking Frontex to pick up the boats to bring them back to European shores, to take care of the migrants. We have to do the opposite from the moment when a boat is taken care of, it is accompanied back to its port of departure, especially when these are safe countries”, he believes.

In the viewfinder of the president of the RN, the Prime Minister but also, and above all, Gérald Darmanin, described as “Minister of mass immigration”.
