Yona Brant, the niece of famous israeli singer, was invited in C to You sure France 5 Wednesday March 10, 2021, on the occasion of the screening of the documentary Mike Brant, the shooting star. This film directed by François Chaumont will be broadcast on Friday March 12, 2021 on France 3 at 9:05 p.m. On the talk show, Yona Brant came back to this dark period which preceded the death of his uncle. In 1973, Mike Brant went to Israel to support his country's soldiers during the Yom Kippur War. A trip that particularly turned him upside down since on his return to France, he fears being the victim of an anti-Semitic attack. On November 22, 1974, he attempted suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of the Hôtel de la Paix in Geneva. In an interview with RTL, he confides in this gesture : "It was bullshit (…) This is the last time."
On April 25, 1975, Mike Brant was found dead, at the age of 28, after a fall from the sixth floor of a building in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. In C to You, Yona Brant tried to explain the artist's fears: "We often talk about Mike's paranoia and this psychosis. But I think it's not trivial paranoia: he was right to be paranoid ", she underlined before specifying: "We are talking about the Yom Kippur War, but there had also been the Munich bombings, a lot of anti-Semitic and other acts (…) He was potentially a target. "

On the set of the show presented by Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine, Yona Brant also unveiled a surprising anecdote: "At one point he didn't know if the young girls who came with scissors came to cut locks of his hair as a souvenir, or if it was a bombing, someone who resented him. So he wasn't totally wrong, I think, that he had those fears. " The star's niece understands that several hypotheses have been formulated around his death. Was he murdered? Did he end his life? "Anyway, a disappearance like that, tragic, when he supposedly had everything going for him and he was in full swing, we do not understand. So it leads to controversy again and again, we can. understand, we accept it ", she admitted. And to conclude: "There are some that are completely wacky, others that may be plausible, yes."
