Actor Mike Hagerty died on Thursday May 5 at the age of 67. He was particularly known for having interpreted the role of the concierge in the Friends series.

It was actress Bridget Everett who announced the sad news by paying her a beautiful tribute. “With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles”she wrote before greeting “a beloved character actor” for which “his love for his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life“. “Mike, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty and his wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg”concluded Bridget Everett, who did not reveal the causes of death of Mike Hagerty. The actor was best known for his recurring role as Mr. Treeger on Friends.

From 1995 and for six seasons, he played the role of concierge alongside stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. His grumpy and clumsy character was the last quoted in the final episode of Friends. “I almost forgot – I promised Treeger we would leave our key”, Monica then threw Chandler in the final scene, which aired in 2004. In 2013, he joined the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Captain McGinley. And in 2022, he co-starred Bridget Everett in his hit comedy Somebody Somewhere as patriarch Ed Miller. A member of the HBO family for many years, his most recent role as Bridget Everett’s father on Somebody Somewhere showed his particular talent for giving heart to a performance, HBO wrote in a statement. Mike was a pleasure to work with and he brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
