Prince Philips step-son Mike Tindall has revealed how he experienced the prince’s funeral under corona conditions.

Through his marriage to Zara Tindall (39), rugby union player Mike Tindall (42) became the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II (95) and Prince Philip (1921-2021) in 2011. In the podcast “The Good, The Bad & the Rugby” On Tuesday (April 20) he looked at the funeral of Prince Philip, which took place on April 17 and only in a small circle due to the corona pandemic. Tindall, who was invited with his wife, described the atmosphere as a bit “strange” due to the lack of crowds and social distancing rules. But he is sure that Prince Philip would have enjoyed the unexcited day so much.

Tindall was particularly impressed by the Queen. “She was sitting there all by herself. She cut herself off according to the world as it is right now and thought: ‘I will lead by example,'” said the 42-year-old. “She’s amazing, just wonderful.”

Mike Tindall has been married to Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne (70) and her ex-husband Mark Phillips (72), for almost exactly ten years. The couple have three children together. After Prince Philips’ death on April 9, the 42-year-old remembered on Instagram with touching words and a photo from the family album to the prince consort. The photo showed Prince Philip with one of his ten great-grandchildren, Tindall’s seven-year-old daughter Mia. Tindall called Prince Philip a “devoted family man we will miss forever, but always love”.

Queen Elizabeth II turned 95 this Wednesday. On Instagram she thanked for the congratulations from all over the world and wrote that the news after the death of Prince Philip had been “consolation” for her. Philip died on April 9th at the age of 99.
