This planned teasing came to nothing even before it was implemented: Mike Tindall wanted to expose his cousin by marriage, Duchess Catherine, a little in the royal family chat. Apparently, the ex-sportsman had not expected the new patron of the English rugby associations to do a great job at the start of her new job.

Mike Tindall, 43, is known after the late Prince Philip, † 99, as the sharpest tongue in the British royal family. Zara Tindall’s husband, 40, loves to tease his royal relatives at every opportunity. But this time he got it wrong. Duchess Catherine, 40, took over the patronage of the English rugby football league and rugby football union at the beginning of February – and was able to quickly prove that she could hold all the balls in her hand on Tindall’s familiar terrain. Knockout for prankster Mike, who already had a little prank planned.

Mike Tindall: Does Kate pocket him on the rugby field?

His cheeky intentions are now revealed in the new edition of his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby. His co-host Alex Payne, 41, waxed lyrical when discussing the skills of Prince William’s wife, 39, on the field: “She looks more like a natural born rugby player than you two combined,” he challenged Tindall and fugitive rugby union player James Haskell, 36.

Duchess Catherine lets Mike run up

A statement that even Mike could hardly disagree with – although before Kate’s sporting debut on the rugby field of Twickenham Stadium in London he pointed in malicious anticipation of an England international present there to be informed of the potential failure of the sporting royal. “I have Elis [Genge] texted, ‘Buddy please tell me everything she’s screwed up’ so I can kinda…annoy her on the WhatsApp family group,” Mike teased. But the ‘Leicester Tigers’ star was sorely disappointed: “He said, ‘No, she was actually pretty good and she was actually really good at kicking’ and I was like… [seufz]. But she has this competitive nature.”

A quality that has linked Mike and Catherine for years. The two have a good connection to each other and almost always have a hearty laugh when they meet – including little teasing.

Professional James Haskell goes into raptures

Catherine’s sporting ambition is shown again and again in public appearances where she is actively involved. In fact, rugby has long been a favorite of Prince Charles’ daughter-in-law, 73, who, alongside football, played England’s favorite ball sport with her family from a young age.

This passion is believed to have been the deciding factor in her new patronage in the wake of Prince Harry, 37. “When she was announced I thought ‘great’ because we know she obviously likes rugby,” James Haskell shared on the podcast, adding enthusiastically, “But the way she caught the ball, like her jumped into the lineup, that little outside break…. She was absolutely fantastic, she was really, really, really good.”

Battle of the Cambridges?

A professional expertise that even Tindall could not contradict. However, the last word has not yet been spoken. Joker Mike is already looking forward to new templates for his lust for kindly meant taunts. Because one thing seems certain: Kate’s new job could soon upset the domestic blessing, after all, husband William is patron of the Welsh rugby union. Enough material for Tindall’s sharp tongue: “The best thing is if it comes to a meeting between England and Wales. Then we get the Battle of the Cambridges”.
