Ukrainian President Zelenskyy thanked actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher for their help via video chat.

US actress Mila Kunis (38), who was born in Ukraine and emigrated to the US with her parents as a child, and her husband and colleague Ashton Kutcher (44) have raised a lot of money for Ukraine. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) thanked him personally for his great commitment in a video chat at the weekend. Selenskyj shared a photo of the three during the conversation on his Twitter account.

He wrote: “Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our pain. They have already raised $35 million […]to help Ukrainian refugees. We are grateful for their support. Impressed by her determination. You inspire the world.”

GoFundMe campaign

The Hollywood power couple launched a GoFundMe campaign for refugee and humanitarian aid. So far they have been able to collect almost 35 million dollars (equivalent to around 32 million euros). As their own contribution, they contributed 3 million dollars (1.8 million euros).

Last week, the two had a video update on their campaign on his Instagram account posted and announced that they have reached their fundraising goal:

“We just wanted to say that we have achieved our goal. Over $30 million has been raised. Over 65,000 of you have donated. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support,” they said. Kunis went on to say, “While the problem is far from solved, our combined efforts will allow many people a softer landing as they face an uncertain future.” And Kutcher added: “Our work is not done yet. We will make sure the love you all radiated through this campaign has the greatest impact on those in need.
